Comino work with Frankham Consulting
9-Aug-2006 |
Frankham & Workbench - Teamwork in Action!
Frankham Consultancy is a rarity in the world of construction consultants. They are successful, expanding and have managed to maintain the integrity and values that ensured the firm has grown to a £10m turnover success story since it was formed in 1982.
The Chairman’s view….
Talking to Steve Frankham, Chairman and founder of the Frankham Consultancy Group you can see the enthusiasm that enables the business to thrive. “With us it has always been about putting the customer first…” he said, “ it is our clients that help us decide what direction the business follows and our ongoing programme of feedback and evaluation is a vital ingredient in that process of expansion and development.”
Frankham operates across all areas of the construction industry, from structural engineering and design projects like managing the installation of the huge new £35m roof at Waterloo station, to building surveying, project management and marine engineering projects including the construction of a new Tate and Lyle sugar refinery in Egypt. Over 200 people are employed at Frankham across five regional offices in the UK, with 85% of Frankham’s work in the public sector on Health, Education, Social Housing and Transportation projects. Strong staff retention and an investment in training help ensure that the business offers their clients a full in-house multi-disciplinary service. Key to the operating strategy has been installation of Workbench, leading edge Information Technology which has been paramount in ensuring the business is both efficient and professional in every area of its operation.

Comino work with Hyde Housing Group
9-Aug-2006 |
Workbench is changing the face of Development Cash flow reporting at Hyde Housing Group
Hyde Housing Group is one of the largest housing associations in the Country. They build around 900 homes a year with an annual turnover of £114m but with rapid growth comes increasing problems in predicting cash flow. All housing developments use a large proportion of cash and this money needs to be well managed to derive maximum benefit in terms of both investment as well as expenditure. With so many variables in a given project easy access to information, transparency and shrewd management are key in ensuring maximum return on investment for RSL’s.
The importance of housing associations has been highlighted with the recent announcements by the ODPM concerning the universal need for affordable housing in the UK. Hyde’s experience in the Thames Gateway, Ashford and other projects in the South East meant that whilst the organisation was highly successful and expanding, increased opportunities were going to bring even greater focus on the need for strong project management systems.
